Astrology is the study of stars and planets. The analysis of astrology and astrological signs is a very controversial subject that has many vast aspects about it to delve into. Behind the scientific approach to this subject, there lies hidden meaning in the relationship between human beings and stars millions of lightyears away. First originating in Babylon about 2,400 years ago, the Babylonians began forming the concept of horoscopes and showed their understanding through drawings that archaeologists later discovered. 

   Horoscopes are the divine connection between a person and specific star signs in the sky that were present the day they were born. Many people claim this correlation can determine many niche things about a person from their personality traits to their success in their love life. From drawings in cave walls, astrology and horoscopes are now broadcasted across the internet and social media, creating a trend amongst all age groups to discover who they are and who they will become through these astrological signs. While some people base their entire life off of their one-of-a-kind astrological chart, many are still doubtful of the accuracy of these predictions. Astrology as a whole would require an entire novel instead of a small article, so whether you believe in it or not, here are the basics of astrological signs and what they might mean for you.

   Aquarius (January 20 – February 18): Aquariuses are deep thinkers and analytical people from within. From the outside, they can be conceived as reserved people, but have a completely different side to them that can be very energetic and quirky. Although they love being social, they still need alone time to recharge. They can tend to be very temperamental, stubborn, and aloof at times and often don’t express their emotions.

   Pisces (February 19 – March 20): As one of the most emotionally in-depth and empathetic signs, Pisces are known for their wisdom and intuitive tendencies. They are very selfless, even if they don’t get anything in return. Through their emotional understanding, they are extremely compassionate and thoughtful. Due to their sensitive and trusting nature, they can feel very sad and anxious. 

   Aries (March 21 – April 19): Although Aries are the third astrological sign, they always strive to be first in everything. They like to take leadership roles in situations and overcome any obstacles in their path. They are a stronger personality in the zodiac which brings good traits but can also be negative. Their impulsive moodiness can come out in short-tempered fits.

   Taurus (April 20 – May 20): Reliable and chaotically fun people, Tauruses are grounded people that love to be surrounded with positive energy and beautiful things. They commit to whatever they do and make sure it is done well. They are dependable people and can be overprotective of those they care about. Stubbornness can often overtake a Taurus making them prone to frustration.

   Gemini (May 21 – June 20): Another social sign, Geminis are always ready for a good time. They love communicating with friends but also possess a serious and deep side. They easily express their emotions and are always looking for new people to talk to. Their expressiveness can also lead to their nervous, moody, and indecisive tendencies as well as their good traits.

   Cancer (June 21 – July 22): With prominent sensitive and emotional traits, Cancers are deep and mysterious signs. They care strongly for those they love and will be loyal to them throughout anything. Due to their emotional intuitiveness, they are very empathetic and follow their heart. They are always there to help others but can turn to be very manipulative, selfish, and impatient.

   Leo (July 23 – August 22): Confident, expressive, and creative, Leos are natural-born leaders. They are very charming and attract many people with their humor and loyal, dominant aura. These warm-hearted people are also very intelligent and able to solve complicated problems. As much as they are charming, they can also be stubborn, arrogant, and completely self-centered.

   Virgo (August 23 – September 22): Virgos are careful and particular signs which allow them to see the depth in things. They are very methodical and tend to hide their emotions, making them often misunderstood. They enjoy things best when they are organized and match their strong character. Their critical nature causes them to be very judgmental and moody when they don’t get their way, making them unable to enjoy fun moments in life.

   Libra (September 23 – October 22): A very compatible and compassionate sign, Libras seek companionship and love in every aspect of life. They are peaceful people but are true to their inner opinions and ideals, constantly striving for justice and fairness. Their peaceful and loving personality makes them avoid conflict and often pity themselves, but sometimes carry a grudge against those who wrong them.

   Scorpio (October 23 – November 21): Dominant and passionate people, Scorpios make great leaders and friends. They are very loyal, strong, and emotionally intuitive, causing their behavior to be cool and collected. They are very dedicated to what they love and are naturally fierce people. Their fiery side comes out through violent emotions, jealousy, and their secretive ways. 

   Sagittarius (November 22 – December 21): Extroverted, enthusiastic, and curious, Sagittariuses are an open book.    Capricorn (December 22 – January 19): Naturally independent and serious, Capricorns are grounded and self-controlled people. They are realistic and practical, thinking through situations with the best outcome in mind. They make the most out of everything and bring stability to relationships. Their set thinking can cause them to be stubborn, cold, and unforgiving especially when they don’t get their way.
