The Impact of the Eras Tour

The 2023 “Eras Tour” is Taylor Swift’s passage throughout her musical career. Consisting of a three-hour performance, Swift takes her fans’ breath away with the ambiance, vocals, and astonishing fashion.

Swift uses three different stages with various props for her forty-four-song setlist. The tour is unique for covering many different styles of music including country, folk, pop, and alternative rock. The setlist includes songs from her ten studio-released albums: Lover, Fearless, 1989, Red, Speak Now, Debut, Reputation, Folklore, Evermore, and her most recent, Midnights. On top of the standard set list, each show receives two surprise songs which keep the individual shows special and the audience excited. Swift chooses her outfits wisely, meticulously incorporating many sparkles and diamonds and matching each outfit to the album she is singing. Swift preforms with three outfit changes. In addition, her dancers’ wardrobes align with the theme as well.

The tour has flooded social media with footage from the shows. Audiences post various photos and clips on social media platforms including Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat, and TikTok. The star is also known for “breaking Ticketmaster” as fourteen million fans tried to buy tickets to the Eras Tour and eventually crashed the site. Swift broke the record for most tickets sold by an artist in a day, selling over 2.4 million tickets on the first day of the United States (US) pre-sale. Swift originally released 53 shows and just recently stated she was going to extend the tour. Since the release, she has performed in 29 more locations. As of today, she has reached a total of 126 shows across the five continents. The tour exceedingly helped the US economy, creating a total gross of 2.2 billion dollars. With each destination she has performed in, the small businesses, hotels, and restaurants boomed. People flooding into town to see Swift helped the tourism industry skyrocket. With the sold-out tours, transportation also had to extend their service, driving airlines to provide more flights for travelers.

The fans, more commonly known as “Swifties” are very involved with the tour and are spotted wearing glitter and colorful attire. Friendship bracelets are also a vital part of a fan’s experience on the tour. Lyrics to Swift’s song, “You’re On Your Kid,” had fans making bracelets and trading them with other fans at the concert.

In addition, Swift has released various songs and re-released albums throughout the Eras Tour. May 5th, 2023, she released “Speak Now, Taylor’s Version” during her first Nashville tour. She announced “1989, Taylor’s Version” at the final Los Angeles show on August 9th. Throughout her tour, she has released songs including “Karma ft. Ice Spice”, “All of the Girls You’ve Loved Before,” “Safe and Sound,” and “Snow on the Beach ft. Lana Del Ray.”
