2016 in Review

As 2016 wraps up, we take a look back at the fabulous year here at Broughton.

We brought in the new years with spikes and digs at our annual Volleybros tournament. The guys left it all on the court as the spiked and dug volleyballs all afternoon.

When February rolled around it was time to dance, and the student body danced the night away in a galaxy far far away.

“Did y’all see that Darth Vader head?” senior Lawson Strickland said.

With the new spring growth came the new growth within our own school. Student body officers were elected and Michael Evers-Daley was voted as Student Body President. Later that spring, the upper classmen enjoyed an action-packed night at the Grease themed prom.

“Grease lightning, go greased lightning!” senior Sarah Goodwin Brook said.

The Class of 2016 bid their farewells to Broughton and summer arrived. As many friends said goodbye, some Broughton students and staff advisors said “see you later” to America as they  traveled to Greece and Italy.

“It is not everyday you get to tour Europe with your closests friends from school,” junior Lillie Moore said.

As summer came to an end. The Class of 2020 arrived on campus wide eyed for their freshman early start.

The 2016-2017 school year got off to an awesome start.

The football team started the season with two straight wins, the most wins in one season while we have been here and the school spirit was rockin’.

“Winning our first two games was awesome. We couldn’t have done it without the Caps Crazies” senior Ben Ralls said.

The annual homecoming festivities got going early due to an early homecoming date. The ladies battled it out on the football field during powerpuff during homecoming week and raised lots of money for the food drive and for breast cancer awareness. Each grade built awesome floats and preformed fabulous skits. But guess who won homecoming? The Seniors, of course!

After homecoming the spirit was maintained as the volleyball team played and won playoff games.

But the power from the ladies didn’t stop with volleyball, the girls showed their dance proposal skills when they asked their dates to the Sadie Hawkins dance.

As 2016 is slowly winding down, it is only right to look back on what a fantastic year we had here at Broughton. There really is no place like it.
