Summer at the movies

There are quite a few blockbuster movies coming out this summer. There’s a good amount of variety here, from a classic Pixar film finally getting a much awaited sequel, to the reimagining of an iconic pulp hero, to a comic book team’s film debut unlike any other seen before. The highlights of the vast roster of Summer 2016 movies are as follows:

June

Now You See Me 2 is the sequel to the commercially regarded Now You See Me. The film features the cast of illusionists (Jesse Eisenberg, Woody Harrelson, Dave Franco, Lizzy Caplan) returning to appease their audience, but getting caught in a mysterious vanishing act performed by a tech prodigy and magnate (Daniel Radcliffe) who forces them to perform a massive heist for him. Now You See Me 2 is released on June 10th.

Finding Dory is the successor to the beloved Pixar film Finding Nemo. It centers around Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) who teams up with Nemo and Marlin to reunite with her parents. The film is released on June 17th.

Independence Day Resurgence is the sequel to the iconic 1996 alien invasion film Independence Day. The aliens that attacked Earth in the first film have returned and in even greater force, but this time the humans have built their military and civilization with technology that the aliens left behind. Independence Day Resurgence comes out on June 24th.
