February 28 ACT

The ACT is being offered for free to all juniors at Broughton.
On February 28 all juniors will be taking the ACT during first, second, and third periods.
Ninety-Five percent of all colleges and universities in the United States require the SAT or ACT for admission.
Normally, the ACT costs around 40 or 50 dollars to take.
However, the county is providing the ACT on February 28 to all juniors at Broughton for free.
So, juniors should be thankful for the opportunity to take the test for free and should take advantage of the opportunity.
If juniors score well on this test, they can send their scores to colleges and not have to worry about taking it again to get a better score.
The goal for juniors going into this test should be to try their best.
The UNC System requires a minimum score of 17 on the ACT to go to college in North Carolina. The ACT is scored out of 36 possible points.
The ACT is divided into four multiple choise sections. The sections are writing, reading, math, and science.
After the multiple choice sections there is an optional writing section that some colleges also require for admission.
Juniors are going to get to take the writing portion for free as well which lasts 40 minutes and requires students to answer an essay prompt.
The essay requires students to develop their own perspective on an issue and provide examples for why they believe what they do.
The writing test is scored out of 12 possible points.
Just as a reminder, this test is important; and, it normally costs money, but this time it’s offered for free, so take advantage of it.
