On Friday, April 15, Principal Steven Mares and other Broughton staff surprised Ms. Olson and her student on behalf of her new award as Wake County’s Beginning Special Ed Teacher of the Year.

After Mares honored Olson and gave her flowers, one of her students stood up and announced that Ms. Olson is the best teacher in the world, and helped him become the best student in the world.   

 This is Olson’s first year teaching, and she has already proved her impact on the school, students and county.

“If Ms. Olson is the best teacher in Wake County, then you all must be the best students in Wake County,” Mares said.
