Lady Caps Start playoffs with Win

The Lady Caps started their predicted deep run of the NCHSAA 4-A Women’s Basketball tournament with a dominant performance over the Apex Cougars.

The girls got off to a hot start, scoring twenty-four points in the first quarter to Apex’s thirteen. Broughton went into halftime up by fifteen points and never looked back from there. They held the lady Cougars to only 12 points in the third quarter and 16 points in the fourth and walked out of Holliday Gym winning fifty to sixty seven.

Senior Kaila Ealey led all scorers with twenty eight points and Katie Wadsworth added twenty of her own.

“We had been prepared all week for this game, and the snow days just gave us extra days to get more ready for them. I think that this is going to be the first of many wins in the next couple of days” said Ealey.

The lady Caps will go back into action on Tuesday for the second round of the playoffs.
