Will Wade has been the name being talked and heard about around Raleigh, especially at N.C. State, where he is now the head coach of the N.C. State Wolfpack Men’s Basketball team. He was previously the head coach of the McNeese State Cowboys, where they defeated the five-seed Clemson Tigers in the March Madness Tournament as a twelve-seed, but then lost in the round of 32 against the four-seed Purdue Boilermakers. Will Wade was brought on as a head coach after his successful run in the tournament. Then, after the loss, he declared his start for the N.C. State Wolfpack. Wade made some bold news by recruiting a 5-star transfer, Tre Holloman, from the Big 10 team, the Michigan State Spartans. He has made a big deal in the offseason to prep his team to the best they can be.
The start of his career has been nothing short of successful, with a dominating game played against N.C. Central with a final score of 114-66. He has warned other teams in the Atlantic Coast Conference, ACC, and the whole Power 4 league that his presence has been made, and there is no slowing him down.
Will Wade replaced Kevin Keatts, the previous N.C. State head basketball coach. Keatts gave a lot to the program. He won the ACC in 2024 as a ten seed. As the ten seed winners, they entered March Madness as an eleven seed and made a historic run to the Final Four. They hung two banners in the Lenovo Center, hoping for this to be some fuel for the start of the 2024 and 2025 season. Sadly, this wasn’t the case after Keatts got fired in March of 2025, and the replacement of Will Wade was on its way to Raleigh.
Fans, a part of the Wolfpack, are eager for the future games and this season to truly kick off with the Power 4 play as well as ACC play. “I’m so excited to go back to the Lenovo Center and watch the basketball team live up to the standards we have set a couple of years ago,” senior Ella Claire Sexton said. This season, get back and watch the new additions, Tre Holloman and Will Wade, make big names for themselves as they launch the beginning of what feels to be a successful season for the pack.
