According to North Carolina Agriculture, crowds gather at the North Carolina State Fair mostly for the food. The fair has always been a staple for collecting various forms of fried foods and crazy flavor combinations. Every year, the fair adds a wide variety of items to its list. As a foodie, looking through this year’s list might be the best yet! Here are my personal favorites for this year in no particular order: 

1. Banana Churros: As a fruit lover, this is the perfect treat for me. The banana churro is crispy on the outside with a creamy and sweet inside. The ripe banana makes the perfect pairing with the cinnamon sugar. To top it off, the item is topped off with a chocolate drizzle. 

2. Dirty Cheerwine: Although this is not a food item, it might be the best! Cheerwine is my favorite soda, making this item the top on my list. The soda is filled with a lime flavoring and topped with a sweet vanilla cream. 

3. Pumpkin Spice Delight: This food item is the ideal vision of fall. The treat is a Vannella-flavored Dole Whip (similar to ice cream) topped with a slice of warm pumpkin pie. The treat is finished with a whipped cream topping, caramel drizzle, and a waffle cone crumble topping, adding the perfect crunch. 

4. Pickle Sub: This may look questionable to others, but this looks so good to me! As a pickle and sandwich lover, the pickle sub is on my list! The sub includes a variety of sliced deli meats and vegetables. Instead of the items wrapped inside a loaf of bread, they are stacked on a dill pickle. The pickle is sliced in half to create the vision of the bun. 

5. Cheese Curd Tacos: Calling all Mexican foodies! The North Carolina State Fair will feature extra cheese tacos this fall. The cheese curd tacos include a fried outer shell that encloses fried cheese curds and meat inside. The four flavors of these tacos include the original, hot chick, box checker, and pickle. In the original taco features brat, cheddar curds, lettuce, and baja. The hot chick has chicken, buffalo curds, blue cheese slaw, and buffalo sauce. The box checker is my favorite with chicken, bacon, cheddar curds, lettuce, and my favorite condiment, ranch dressing! The pickle includes dill pickle, cream cheese, cheddar curds, lettuce, and ranch.
